NDIS Training Requirements for Caregivers Delivering High-Intensity Support

NDIS providers are responsible for ensuring that workers have current skills and knowledge, and that worker training is documented and audited regularly.

It’s recommended that a worker's competency to offer high-intensity support be assessed annually to ensure that the worker still possesses the skills and knowledge stated in the abilities descriptor.

If a worker has not provided this support for more than three months, or if a participant's support needs have changed or have an updated support plan in place, it is recommended that the worker be reassessed before continuing to support the participant and undergo refresher training if necessary. This timeframe may vary depending on the nature of the required supports and worker experience.
